| Description of dive site: |
The whole island was declared to be a protected marine
area by the government.
Like all the dive spots on Apo Island,
Largahan is coverd with beautiful corals. The reef top
is in about 10 m and full of coral blocks in different sizes.
After 8 – 10 minutes diving over the reef top you reach the
steep coral slope where you descend to 30 m. Diving with
the reef on your left shoulder you ascend slowly in the
multilevel-profile back to the reef top.
First you dive along a
small wall until you reach in about 15 m a sandy area. Due
to volcanic activities, bubbles rise from the sandy ground.
It makes you feel being in a whirlpool. You end your dive on
the reef top close to a big rock in 5 m with a safety.
This dive
can be made in shallow waters only, so we recommend it
for beginners too.

| What to be seen: |
There are lots of different reeffish on the reef top.
Seasnakes
and turtles can pass by any time. Scorpionfish
are well camouflaged in the variety of the corals.
Different
kind of mackrels patrol along the reef. You can find also
nudibranches and flatworms, pufferfish, triggerfish, lionfish,
different kind of groupers, parrotfish and many
other animals, corals and plants.
Thats why Apo Island is
considered as one of the best dive spots in the Philippines.
The huge marine life and the „bubble bath „ are worth diving
this spot more than once.
